Vixen

On Christmas Eve every year, a group of reindeer carry the sled on which Santa Claus rides with lots of gifts. According to a collection of poems written by Clement Clarke Moore, all of the reindeer have names, one of which is "Vixen." The company, Vixen Co., Ltd., is named after the reindeer, the messenger of happiness. Vixen was founded in 1949 as the integrated manufacturer of optical devices like astronomical telescopes, binoculars, and microscopes.
  During the corporate history, Vixen released the world's first astronomical telescope with an automatic go-to system. Vixen's technology for making astronomical telescopes is also applied in makings of binoculars and microscopes. It has lead to the creation of new devices like the 'digiscope' system. which can take photographs of images obtained by an astronomical telescope or a microscope with a digital camera. As a leading manufacturer of these products, Vixen will continue to improve the technology for making excellent products.

 

October, 1949 Kosuke Tsuchida initiated his home business. Sales of optical devices started.
March, 1954 "Koyusha Corporation" was founded. Business operation started in Wakamatsucho, Shinjuku.
July, 1957 Export Division was established. Market opens for U.S.A., Europe, Middle East, etc.
July, 1957 Received ""Minister of Economy, Trades, and Industry Award" and "Kanagawa Governor Award" at the 3rd Exporting Crafts Exhibition
May 1960 Received "Tokyo Governor Award" for the rational business operation and unique sales organization.
November, 1960 Received "the Secretary of Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Award" as a prototype of small and medium enterprise.
September, 1966 Manufactures and sales of astronomical telescopes start.
August, 1969 Factory division was separated and Vixen Optics Co., Ltd. was established in Itabashi-ku, Tokyo.
August, 1970 The company name was changed from "Koyusha Co., Ltd." to "Vixen Co., Ltd.."
July, 1971 The second factory division was separated and "Atlas Optics Corporation" in Itabashi-ku, Tokyo, was established.
May 1976 The genuine equatorial astronomical telescopes "Polaris" series, developed by die casting for the first time in Japan, were released.
September, 1976 Purchased a 1520-square-meter land with the properties on it in Hongo, Tokorozawa to use as factory. Moved Atlas Optics Corporation from Itabashi-ku to Hongo.
May 1984 Equatorial astornomical telescopes "Super Polaris" series were released.
June, 1984 Vixen Optics Co., Ltd. was moved from Itabashi-ku to the factory in Hongo, Tokorozawa.
September, 1984 The celestial automatic go-to system for amateur astronomers, "SkySensor," developed first in the world, was released.
September 1984 The export devision was separated and Vixen Optical Devices Technology Co., Ltd. was established in Hongo, Tokorozawa.
August, 1985 Purchased a land of 3960 square meters with a floor space of 3300 square meters as the main office location in Higashi-tokorozawa. The main office was moved from Wakamatsu-cho, Shinjuku-ku.
August, 1986 Fully multi-coated and high-precision binoculars "Ultima" series were released.
November, 1986 The capitol was increased to 64,000,000 yen after an investment was received from Tokyo Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation Co., Ltd.
April, 1989 A high-precision large equatorial mount, "ATLUX," which employed a rotary connector, was released.
January, 1992 The company name, "Atlas Optics Corporation," was changed to "Vixen Development Technology Corporation."
June, 1992 Equatorial-mount astronomical telescopes, "Great Polaris" series, were released.
October, 1995 The field scopes, "Geoma" series, were released Received "Good Design Award."
December, 1996 The DC motor pulse control system and celestial automatic go-to device, "SkySensor 2000," was released
April, 1997 The company website was launched.
October, 1999 The business operation run by office computers was converted to the PC network in the entire office.
June, 2002 Merged with Vixen Optical Device Technology Corporation.
March, 2003 Vixen Europe was established in Germany.
July, 2003 The astronomical telescope with a celestial navigation function displayed on a large color LCD screen, "SX (Sphinx) Equatorial Mount" series, developed first in the world, were released.
October, 2003 Astronomical telescope, "SX(SPHINX)Equatorial Mount" and field scope "Geoma Pro" received "Good Design" award.
April, 2005 Altazimuth telescopes, "PORTA" series, were released.
October, 2005 A communications club, "Tonakai" was launched.
April, 2006 Merged with Vixen Development Technology Corporation.
May 2006 The altazimuth telescopes with navigation functions, "SKYPOD Series," were released.
March, 2007 The astronomical telescopes with navigation functions, "SXD Series," were released.
November, 2008 Vixen solar eclipse glasses were approved as recommended solar observation implements by Japan Committee for International Year of Astronomy 2009.
April, 2009 Vixen was nominated for one of 300 small and medium sized companies who could maintain innovative and high-spirited manufacturing in 2009 by the Japanese small and medium enterprises agency.
October, 2009 Vixen celebrated 60th anniversary of its foundation.
November, 2010 AXD equatorial mount series of astronomical telescopes with the new generation automatic celestial navigation controller “STAR BOOK TEN” were introduced.
