product description

Baader Planetarium delivers the latest tool in the planetary imager's bag of tricks. The Baader IR-Pass filter blocks wavelengths below 670nm. At these longer wavelengths, planetary images are less disturbed by wavefront distortions in the atmosphere (seeing). By combining a luminance image taken with the IR-Pass filter, along with RGB frames, overall image sharpness is significantly enhanced. Some of the world's best amateur planetary images have been taken with this technique.
The Baader IR-Pass filter shares the same outstanding features as all the other Baader filters. High optical quality, Striae-free substrate and high efficiency multicoatings result in the sharpest and highest contrast image possible.

  • Planoptically polished (1/4 Lambda)
  • IR-Phantom Group Coated
  • IR-matched AR-coating
  • Highest IR-Transmission
  • Non aging - Sealed coating edges
  • NO halos & NO reflections!
  • LPFC = Low Profile Filter Cell (effective height 6mm)
  • Baader-filterbox, combinable

Legend:

  • 1¼" = Filterthread M28.5mm
  • 2" = Filterthread M48mm
  • 36mm, 38mm (glass thickness: each 2mm), 50.4mm, 50.8mm (glass thickness: 3mm) = round, unmounted
  • 50x50mm, 65x65mm (glass thickness: each 3mm) = square, unmounted
  • nm = Nanometer (bandwidth/FWHM)

Note:
The preferred oriention of the filter is to have the highest reflectivity side facing skyward.
